CARTERHenryHe was a previous owner of my house in early 1800's. Henry Carter deeded the place to Ira Smith in 1842, and Ira Smith to Cephus Smith a month later. I'm interested in knowing who owned the house before Henry Carter. I called the Herk. Co. deeds department, but was told that Henry Carter owned so many parcels of land that they couldn't track them down. The deed that I have also stops there. Shirley Casadonte

ReubenReuben is noted on the 1790 census for Mohawk Town, Montgomery County, with a household of 7 people, which would be himself, his wife and son, Newbury would be 18 & Abel would be 13, while daughters, Hannah would be 16, Sarah would be 8 and the 3rd daughter is unknown. Newbury married an Esther Short, Abel marries a lady we only know as Phebe. While we believe Hannah married a Daniel Temple & Sarah married a Barnard Temple. Reuben & wide "D" and family are found in Tioga County, PA in 1808. Some of the Temples are found in Middlefield, Otsego, NY and some were later found in Tioga Co. as well.Sally Close Meabon
