SAWYER | Justus | Justus Sawyer was the son of William Sawyer and Curance ______. William is thought to have migrated to Oneida Co. from Adams, MA, but it is not known if he resided in Salisbury or any other community in Herkimer County before reaching Western. His wife, Curance died in 1862 and is buried in the Nisbet Cemetery in Western, Oneida, NY. The Sawyers married into the Mason family of Adams, MA and along with the Wheelers married into the Emery family of Rehoboth. The relationships between these families is online under the Mohawk Valley Genealogy and History site that ran an article from the St. Johnsville Enterprise and News, 24 July 1947, posted by Russell B.
